A good design makes something from nothing. For example, we added a home office, a laundry room, and a powder room to this West End Avenue apartment without trading out a single room. In fact, we even increased open space and storage. At the entry, coat closets flank an alcove bench for removing shoes. Metallic barn doors slide along a shared track down the center hall. Opposite these, we backed an integrated bookshelf with translucent panels. Seamless ash cabinetry smoothes out a bumpy kitchen. And lastly, new acoustically-isolated bamboo floors unify the many rooms.
