Wincoma French Tudor Restoration

Restoration of a circa 1920s French Tudor home completed in 2007-2008.

This circa 1920s French Tudor home in Huntington Bay had great bones, and just needed some exterior refurbishing and minor interior updating to bring it back to life. The new Owner began work on the house in the Fall of 2007.

Over the years, materials were not well-maintained, so some of the live edge wood clapboard, trim boards, and window sashes needed restoration.

The homeowner was looking for Guilford Green body, Esses Green trim, and a Classic burgundy door. The architect had a different vision.

The warmth of the siding and trim created a more monolithic appearance, by being less contrasting with the brick and stone. This actually improved the scale of the house, making it feel larger than it is without being overwhelming.

The front door was restored, and the storm door removed, to let the beauty of the original door and strap hinges show fully.

An intimate side entry leads into the Basement stair, three steps down from the Kitchen.

The side Entry door was painted the same warm red, but in this instance, the trim was painted a darker shade of the stucco color, to blend in with the stucco, just as was done with the windows.
