Woodgarden, Kitchen Design

The main level of a 1960’s back split bungalow had a small footprint of only 430 square feet. The existing enclosed kitchen was located in a corner of the house that had too many openings (a window, side door and two doorway opening). It was super compact, lacked storage and had an awkward work flow. So we flipped everything around and introduced an expansive unobstructed open concept kitchen that can be seen from both the living and dining area. The only wall remaining in the space was between the new living and dining area which offered a surface for a wall hung television on the living room side and beautiful artwork on the dining side. The new layout offered one long unobstructed wall for the refrigerator flanked by a pantry on both sides, a slide in stove with ample counter space and a 13’ island that houses the sink, dishwasher, microwave, garbage/compost, counter seating eat-in overhang and dining room storage. Here are the results!
