Worthington Kitchen, Laundry and Mud Room Redo

Transformed the first floor of this home with new "kid & pet friendly flooring", added a new kitchen with great storage capacity, focused on cooking with ease, removed the old laundry room and mud room entry closet. The new laundry room has areas for clothes drying with various options, deep laundry sink with over the sink storage, plenty of cabinets for shoes and overflow coat storage, and a mud room to house a bench and many shoes and coats for a busy family of 4.

Original kitchen had a large L shaped island but not a great shape to allow for everyone to sit and be together. Older cabinets and laminate counter tops. Customer also wanted to replace the patio doors and create more storage for the kitchen

Coming in from the garage all you could see were doors, doors, doors.....large sliding doors hard for the children to open for the dark and cramped coat closet, a small linen closet and then the door into the laundry room that was, of course, never shut.

The soffit over the washer/dryer just needed to be removed and there was plenty of wasted space

The new walk in pantry had a great narrow alcove which was perfect for deep pull out shelves for convenient storage of small appliances

The new cook top with beautiful showcased tile in the back splash; the custom hood hid the venting system.

Coming in the hallway from the garage the small top cabinet houses a family charging station. The double oven has a combination convention/microwave oven on the top. The upper cabinet has vertical dividers for platters, etc.

This is the new dining area; wall was removed to open up the room and include it into the kitchen space. New flooring throughout the area. Wainscoting was removed and all walls were painted to blend with the kitchen. All woodwork was replaced and updated with fresh white trim.

A bonus area was found between the kitchen and formal dining room allowing us to provide the customer with a small walk in pantry. Ten inch deep shelving is perfect for canned goods so you don't loose things on the shelves.

View of new kitchen from dining area. The new island has storage on all sides and is capable of seating up to 6. The large slab of granite is perfect for family meals, baking, or just having the kids hang out while Mom and Dad fix dinner.

New cabinets under the newly trimmed windows gave a spot for children's toys and game to be put away close to the island, along with a great place to put appetizers when entertaining.

The new island houses a small prep sink. The new counter depth refrigerator fit into the space without crowding the doorway.

The sink area is an under mount tru granite sink with a gooseneck faucet. Under cabinet lighting enhanced the look.

Tons of cooking going on in this house. One of the nice things about making your own cabinets is not having restrictions on size, depth, etc.

Under cabinet lights can be controlled individually or with a switch. The great back splash tile is a new 5"x7" for an updated but classic look.

The new laundry room has convenient pull outs for both drying delicate items and also housing the detergent, bleach, etc.

Getting rid of the soffits, upgrading the sink, and putting in pull downs allows for a clean look with plenty of space to dry clothes with them being out of the way.

Tiered mesh pull outs means items can be drying and still pushed in under the counter top so they are not in the way while drying. Cabinets on either side house utility storage and family coats and shoes.

Removing that old double sliding door closet opened up the space to allow for a great bench seat, plenty of storage for shoes, boots, back packs and coats on hooks.

Some PVC slatwall over top of the sink allows for smaller items to be off the counter top. The convenient pull downs allows front loading machines to stay on their pedestals but still gives tons of room to hang clothes to dry or coming right out of the dryer.
