When this Westfield, NJ family approached the MRCxEMD team about a wanting a home that would embrace a slower lifestyle and bring them in touch with land and farm life (with a luxe twist), we were immediately intrigued. They landed upon a sprawling estate that had incredible land but was in dire need of a massive, full home renovation. The grounds (with a pond, stable and horse trails) and family lifestyle provided the inspiration for the task of reconfiguring the entire home layout and aesthetic. A complete renovation of the exterior and interior elevated this 7,000 square foot home and made it a true fully-equipped haven for an active young family. Our trusting, busy client expressed wanting to “move in with a toothbrush,” and the teams happily obliged to bring the vision to life - building, designing, furnishing and accessorizing every room.
Function of each space was carefully considered, and custom built-ins, nooks and finishes keep the home feeling warm despite its large footprint. Blending indoor and outdoor living was a primary goal, accomplished by placing stone on both the inside and outside and planning for plentiful windows as well as access to patios to maximize sprawling, serene views. An oversized custom metal arched door leading to a covered patio with a see-through stone wood burning fireplace is one of the home’s stars. A full gym, kid’s lounge/movie room, two custom laundry rooms and two office spaces provided the family with all the amenities of modern luxury, with a loaded and luxe pool house for hosting family and friends. Purposeful spaces for lounging (inside and outside), gathering and taking in the surroundings provide this family a luxurious yet cozy and welcoming respite from the day’s schedules.
