Can you tell me how you joined the wood planks together on the countertop? Did you fill between the joints? - Are the boards glued? and if so how did you fill the space between the boards....it looks like a solid slab of wood, but I suspect that it isn't. AWESOME project!

No, not mine by design or otherwise. We do have cedar and fir at our lake cabin and the wood looks familiar. I am not an expert and I should have clarified with an IMO.

Hi Kristen! Thank you so much. I love Tahoe and work on projects all over the country, so if you need help, give me a shout. This kitchen light fixture was actually an old Ox Yoke found through an antique dealer and converted in to a light fixture. It's pretty cool. Thanks again!

The fixtures on the island light... any ideas on where to find those. I've done a bit of searching and nothing comes close.

Search under industrial stools. I know Restoration Hardware carries something similar.

@designer1-hi! The light is actually an old ox yoke converted into a light with arts and crafts shades used. I would suggest finding a similar piece at an antique store and contacting a local lighting store to help you create something similar. You are right, the light is undeniably cool. Thanks for the question!

Island color - First off your talents are truly amazing. Thank you for sharing them with us. So... I was wondering as a gal who predominately uses white on white decorating with neutral naturals for texture... Might you please advise what brand and color you selected for the headboard island? I'm not even going to be able to come close to finding the right red without a starting point. I truly appreciate in advance any insight you may provide.... Happy day...! Beth

Who cuts directly on their countertops?! I see this question all the time, never cut directly on your counter no matter what it is made of. Always use a cutting board. This is best for your counters, knives, and food safety.

Most range hoods like this are custom made. search by the metal or material you want a hood made out of to find manufactures. You can often buy direct from them. Texas Lightsmith is a great resource for custom range hoods. http://www.texaslightsmith.com/range-hoods

Consider reclaimed wood for your countertops. A couple of coats of polyurethane will keep wood countertops protected from spills and rotting. If you're renovating an older home, look in the attic for beautiful old floorboards to use for countertops.See more tips for wood countertops in the kitchen

Rustic kitchens. “Worn," "distressed" and "rough hewn" may not be the first words that come to mind when we think of kitchens.
