Great, innovative design. You made no design excuses for the lower windows. How did the counter in front of them work out for the owners long term? I have same situation and want to place cook top in front of lower (29" hi sill) window. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The backsplash is a marble mosaic. In the foreground - yes that is a wood countertop out of Walnut built by the Designers Father.

it's a subzero - I am not sure of the model # off the top of my head. It's a built in unit (not a a slide in).

I would use marble in my house but I like the patina it get's overtime. Marble stains easily and can be hard to maintain. You have to like the aged look that you would get with it.

I love the wood counter top, but is that sustainable in a working kitchen? Does it have to have a bar finish on top of it?

This particular wood counter top is more used as a dining area... the client's are not using it for cooking / food prep. A wood countertop can be very suitable in a working kitchen - but is dependent on many things (overall look, client's care and upkeep). This countertop was made custom for the space by a woodworker in New Hampshire.

This was a Historical renovation in an old Brownstone in Boston. There was some pipes we could not move in that location, therefore we could not use it. Good luck on your project!

Hi There. These are real tulips. If you're looking for good faux florals try: NDI or Distinctive Designs. Good luck!

Hi, I have the same question.. What dimensions are the kitchen please? I have looked at lots of small kitchens but I have to say this is the winner for me, you have done a wonderful job!

Thanks for your comments. The hardware is from Siro - http://www.sirodesigns.com from the "Euro Metallic" line and the cabinets are just plain Shaker Style with a flat panel.
Thanks again.

Hello. We bought this from Yale Appliance in Dorchester / Boston, MA. This is a model they make - it's not a large brand. It comes mostly installed. Good Luck!

What Houzz contributors are saying:
Vanessa Brunner added this to Kitchen of the Week: An Entryway Kitchen Opens Up
The couple lives in a historical area, so Pinney had to be careful to maintain the home's exterior. The existing windows drop below the new countertops. Pinney designed a hidden lip on the outer edge of the countertops, just inside the windows, to keep items from falling outside. Refrigerator: SubZero; dishwasher: Bosch; sink: Elkay; fixtures: KWC; drawer pulls: Siro
