interesting thread, when I saw this picture I was wondering the same thing - did not see a vent system. I am installing a 30 inch kitchen aid cook top and using an lg microwave with extended vent above it. I was concerned about having enough venting power. so I was surprised to see a cooktop without any sort of vent system. it never occurred to me that you could have any type of range/cooktop without some vent system.

It is a marble. Because of geological composition, all stones are susceptible to varying degrees of staining and surface wear. For more details on this product you can contact your local Charles Luck Stone Center at the link below:

Thank you for your question laurelhowe. This material is called Covelano, it is a marble and this particular counter is 5cm thick.

What a beautiful kitchen right there. The gas cooktop is what got my attention because of its' design. It reminded me of the one that my father had installed in his kitchen. He admires those type of appliances, especially the ones that run on gas. http://www.biritewangaratta.com.au/kitchen/cook-tops

Hi ardyn12, we believe it is a Downdraft cooktop from Jenn-Air. Check out this model on their website. http://www.jennair.com/flash.cmd?/#/product/JGD3536WS

That is definitely not the downdraft option that Jenn Air offers. You would be able to see it clearly.

hopefully in the cabinet to the right, or maybe access from underneath. Either way it does not sound easy.

I have a set of (4) (lunch, soup, cup) of the yellow cabbage leaf dishes with a number of serving pieces, that I have been considering on selling. They are vintage from Portugal and I believe they are no longer being made. Very unique.

You will probably need to use wall anchors and toggle bolts to make sure the shelf is secure properly. Here are further instructions from Just Answer.com: http://www.justanswer.com/home-improvement/0bkck-hang-shelf-tiled-wall.html

If new construction make sure you have blocking in the wall. If existing your bolts should have anchors that will hold the appropriate weight of the shelf and it's occupants.

swfld this was a custom shelf for the client and don't have record of what dimensions this particular shelf were. We would suggest doing a cardboard/plywood template and using that to decide what dimensions might work for your space. Good luck!

You are correct. It is actually the same stone as the countertop which is a 5cm Covelano Marble. We fabricated this to the dimensions of the customer when we did their countertops. If you are in VA, NC or MD you can contact us about making you one otherwise we suggest a local countertop fabricator in your area.

Update the kitchen. The kitchen is an especially natural place for bringing in the zest of citrus. Colorful pots and pans on display, handmade pottery and glassware are beautiful ways to refresh the kitchen. And of course you can always pile up lemons, limes or oranges in bowls for a nearly free decor lift.

Gas cooktops. Traditional gas cooktops are still preferred by many, because having a visible flame allows you to control the heat output more precisely. Another difference between gas cooktops and electric ones is that gas cooktop power is measured in BTUs (British thermal units).

Bring in colorful accessories. Placing them on open shelves, in glass-front cabinets or even just on the countertops will allow you to switch out the colors when you’re ready for a change. This is the easiest, least permanent way to experiment.
