Thanks for the info. Not sure that it would be a great back splash material, but if it helps with sound absorption, I do want to look into it. I remember while living in Germany, we always papered our walls with textures and then painted them. I don't think we used vinyl though -- not 40 years ago.

I agree, I also love this copper waved backsplash in this kitchen. The pattern almost looks like a subtle wood grain cut from an oak tree. My husband and I are wanting to remodel our kitchen at some point. We'd love to use good quality materials and upgrade our counter-tops and backsplash. I'd love to do something like this. Great job! http://www.austonecompany.com.au/stone-splashbacks.html

@sjr, I would like to introduce you a river white black marble as per attached pictures. It has a similar movement like a silver white river go through the black marble. It can be made into a backsplash panel with an aluminum board as back up at the back. It's easy to install it on the wall by ceramic grout or dry hanging. The marble aluminum backsplash panel is much lighter than full marble, and it's stronger. It helps with sound absorption.

This backsplash looks identical .to the one that I designed for my bathroom a couple years ago. My GC and his painters (some of the best in the DFW area) struggled with bringing my vision to reality. Finally after much creativity they were able to take the metallic paint that I chose and create the wave like patterns on the wall. I believe, if I remember correctly, that the paint was a Sherwin Williams metallic and the waves (lines) were made with wall texture applied using a caulk gun.

The backsplash was handmade in a seamless custom concrete, which eliminates any grout lines. It was given a unique wave-like pattern and texture for visual interest. The texture is very subtle, which also makes it easy to clean. Hood: Zephyr 36-inch Roma (Essentials Europa)Range: Miele 36-inch Gas 5-burner (Classic series)

6. Solid-surface backsplashes. We are looking for kitchens that are easier to keep clean. Solid surfaces are easier to wipe down than grouted tile. I think we are also looking for a serene and uncluttered look. Taking the backsplash all the way up to the wall cabinets accomplishes that in one way, but using a solid surface with no seam lines — or just a couple — provides a very sleek look. This custom-made seamless concrete backsplash has a subtle texture for visual interest, but the texture is not deep, so it's easy to clean.

The piece isn't traditional concrete its GFRC (glass fiber reinforced cement) making it light weight and super thin (5/8" thick). The piece is not stained nor is the pattern etched. All of our color are integral meaning we mix pigment into the concrete, the pattern is cast in. If you have any question about our product please email me at Lise@2Stone.ca. We will ship to anywhere.
