Thank you for contacting us regarding installing a pocket door. There is not a straight forward answer for this as it it dependent on many factors. The depth can be limited by the bearing conditions in the wall where you desire the door cavity to be. We generally spec 2x6 walls to adequately house a pocket door as well. This may be a question for a general contractor that is able to visit your home and determine the conditions that they are working within. I am sorry that we are not able to give you a definite answer.
