I will order the Detroit Concrete sample. I have the time to wait. Will be starting new build in 11 months. I am thrilled with my choices.

I have firmly decided on stock hickory cabinets ( from Home Depot or Lowe's )

i have tile flooring from South Cypress Floorng called "Morning" and also oversized pure white subway tile from Storka. And am going all the way to the ceiling with the tile. I plan on using open shelving for uppers and a ceiling exhaust fan over my oven.

Delta makes a reasonably priced fixture set collection called Triesmic that I am using throughout. I love Wilsonart and will be using it in my kitchen and both baths counters

I am going for a concrete look in the kitchen. Thanks for the tip on Detroit concrete sample I will look it up.

I am so excited about getting started on our lake cabin !

Did you install the vent a hood over the tile or is it tiled around the vent a hood. I am just wondering what the proper install would be with uneven tile?

Yes we installed the hood on top of the splash in this case. This particular product is uneven to touch ; However, it is uniformly uneven which allows the hood to install nicely against the surface with a nice even reveal from the hood to the stone. Thanks for your inquiry..

I have used concrete tops in at least fifteen projects in the past. All of my customer’s absolutely love them. The only issue I have ever experienced with staining was due to hot grease splatter from an electric griddle. Rumor has it that red wine will also take a toll on concrete tops but I have never come across that one. I will also say that water spotting will occur as a glass sits and condensates on the concrete tops for an extended period of time; however it goes away as soon as the water dries completely. I use a sealer called Iron clad on all of my pour in place countertops. Should you decide to use concrete tops it might behoove you to ask some of the local contractors about pour in place tops vs. off site poured tops. They both have advantages and disadvantages. If you’re not able to get the information you need please feel free to give me a shout at 214-477-7443.

Those tiles definately came from Flor, I remember seeing them. I believe that print has since been discontinued but they have some incredible patterns that would look great as a kitchen runner. For a nominal fee, they will also cut tiles in half so you can make a border out of a different color/print. I did a solid green in the kitchen with a yellow printed 1/2 tile border. It's a ton of fun creating the designs too and when you get tired of it, switch it around, put them in a different room, get a new border, etc. Here is a picture of mine. Depending upon which tile you pick, some will show the outline of the tile more then others, this didn't bother me at all though. Oops, think i can't add a photo on an edit, will add it below in new answer.

Hey Sara - Yes we actually shimmed out the wall behind the vent hood surround by the same thickness and width as the stainless cover. Once the drywall work was done we painted the 1/2 spacer to match the walls. At the end of the day one can not even notice the stainless tube is not actually resting against the back wall. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Hello and thanks for your inquiry. The center isle of this kitchen is 5' wide. The range seen at the end of the isle is a 36" slide in range to give you some perspective of the working conditions. Please do not hesitate to write should you have any further questions.

Hello - The Splash is a split face stone supplied by Dal Tile. Unfortunately , I do not remember the name or color of the product but It comes in 12" x 12" sheets. Hope this helps you out a bit!!

Hello - These ceilings are actually nine foot high which afforded me a little more flexibility with the exposed duct. I have used exposed duct in several applications and have never had any problems with it in regards to performance or code requirements. i would suggest you stick with an 8-12 duct if you do decide to go that route. Yes I can! This hood is a 36" Ge Monogram vent hood. The original clients I built the home for loved the unit and had no complaints. Hopefully this will help you in your search. have a great day!

Hello - These pulls are a very simple 6" European bar pull in stainless steel. This pull actually comes in several sizes ranging from 3" up to 60" in length. This hardware can actually be found in the 5" version at most home depot locations. If you are looking for a larger variety the best place I have found is www.myknobs.com. Hey there. I always integrate my back splash plugs/switches/ and under counter lighting into the bottom of my upper cabinets. Shifting all of this into the underside of the cabinetry allows the back splash to really show without any interruptions. Please do not hesitate to write if you have any further questions.
