31 Ludlow, VT
This mountain top home hadn't been repainted since it was built in the early 2000's. The new owners wanted a different color scheme and were very interested in restoring and preserving the natural beams and v-groove soffits that are prominent on this craftsman house. The natural wood had color variations from the different sun exposures and almost all of it had developed black mold spores that was further degrading the wood.
The sheer mass of this project, coupled with the extensive multi tiered gables were a significant challenge (especially the cupola). The standing seam roof was virtually flawless, and we're proud to report that it remains in that condition after our painting. We used special techniques to protect the metal roofing while accessing all the surfaces. All done with ladders, no heavy equipment.
After thoroughly washing the natural wood and getting the uniformity back, we applied two coats of Sikkens Log & Siding high performance translucent oil finish, natural tone 078. The siding was finished with two coats of Benjamin Moore's Arborcoat Solid Color Stain, color- Briarwood HC-175. The trim was finished with two coats of Ben Moore Aura, color- Hunter Green.
