Aquatic Inspiration

Inspired by their love of diving, this CT. couple wanted a salt-water aquarium to be a major influence in the design of the kitchen in their new home. Strategically placed for homeowners and guests, the tropical fish can be viewed from three sides as they pass from kitchen to family room. As the focal point in the space, it was important to find quiet but interesting materials. Verdi Karzai granite countertop and warm woods compliment the aquarium without taking away from it. The organic colors of the tile backsplash were a beautiful compliment to the bronze range hood making it feel like it was floating on water. A large interlocking island of granite and wood was designed for many hands to be working and chatting while guests look on.
