Ballard Kitchen Remodel
This award-winning kitchen renovation was a special collaboration with repeat clients for whom Better Builders had previously completed an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). This time, the focus was on their own home — creating a larger, more functional kitchen designed for cooking, entertaining, and gathering with friends and family.
To expand the footprint, the former back porch was incorporated into the kitchen, and new openings were added to connect the space seamlessly with the front living room. The result is a bright, open layout that comfortably accommodates large groups while maintaining a welcoming, homey feel.
Custom cabinetry maximized every inch of storage, with thoughtful details like a built-in cutting board, towel cubbies, a recessed spice pantry, and even a clever niche beneath the wet bar for the homeowners’ cat. A gas cooktop with a high-powered hood, mounted higher than standard, preserves clear sightlines without compromising performance. Large French doors open to the outdoor living area, creating an effortless connection for year-round entertaining.
Finishing touches include a refreshed original built-in, a new fireplace surround, and a warm stone hearth — tying the renovation together with character and continuity. The result is a beautifully reimagined kitchen and living space that perfectly blends functionality, personality, and the joy of hosting.
