Barrie Transitional Living Room Redesign

View a video and more details here: http://wylieford.homelistingtours.com/listing2/148-maple-avenue

My husband and I tore down our original little white cottage of a home five years ago to build our dream home. We decided to stay and rebuild on our double sized property in the City of Barrie, we were lucky enough to purchase this gem of a property in 1991, where we raised our family. Our kids have long since gone off on their own and it was time to rethink our future. The question was: To move or to stay? Stay it was... after all, we had always know this property as our home.
For the past five years we have been chipping away at 'my' wishlist (my husband considered it done when we turned the key on our new home build) and my list was big... really big.
Our biggest project to date (other than the extensive landscaping, see story: Making Use of Your Back Yard) was the living room.
I enlisted my son Ryan who recently moved back home from Vancouver to do the labor in this living room makeover.
What we did:
Added Custom Beams to the Ceiling.
Added Tongue and Groove Slats between the Beams.
Added a Stone Feature Wall with Fireplace and Custom Cabinets.
I should tell you at this point that I did have two small windows on either side of the fireplace that we opted to seal due to design constraints; It was a bold move but one that I do not regret.
Painted the entire room Benjamin Moore's Cloud White.
You will also see a couple of images of my dining room and kitchen. I do have plans for those rooms as well, but not quite yet!
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
