The empty-nester clients for this project sought a timeless and picturesque lake cottage setting. this was accomplished through the use of rustic materials like stone, a hand-split wood shingle roof, french tile, integrally colored plaster walls and decorative ironwork. The scale is kept manageably small by fitting upper rooms into a low roofline and dormers. A comfortable, lofted living area separates the upper guest bedrooms from the master suite.
