Blackley Road

Background
The existing 1970’s semi-detached two-storey house, located in a rural setting in West Yorkshire, was in critical need of expansion, creating a make or break situation for a growing family.

“Do we move or improve…. Can our existing home provide us with the extra space we require for our girls to grow up in?”

After recently celebrating the arrival of twins into their family, the clients quickly realised they had outgrown their current living space.
Having just completed a project to extend and create an open-plan kitchen-dining area in their home, along with having extended family living close by on the same street, the clients were reluctant to move.
During the early design stages of this project, working with the clients, we established a written brief. This consisted of an indoor/ outdoor play space for the girls to grow up in, a utility/wash room and a downstairs bathroom, as they fully anticipated the potty training situation as the girls got older. In addition, the clients requested a larger master bedroom with an en-suite and a private Juliet terrace.
