Looking into kitchen from living room after a structural wall was removed (replaced by beam) makes a huge difference! Room for more stools on two sides of this peninsula plan. Blue lowers, white uppers and a white quartz countertop. Photos by Philip Wegener Photography

AFTER from same position as the before shot, looking out same sliding door, but now able to also see out the great stacked corner windows. Peninsula has overhang for stool seating as well as the long edge of counter behind sink. New lighting throughout.

As part of the kitchen redo, we added some mudroom and entry cabinetry to match, and doubled the size of an old bronze bubble skylight with a fixed glass Velux, which lets in 5 times the light the old skylight did.

Re used the owners LG gas range with a new hood over it, and used accent tile behind as a focal point

BEFORE photo of old 1983 stairway with 2x8 handrails that were hard to grip and clunky 2x2 lag bolted balusters. Carpet got dirty quickly, with two active Labs using it in addition to the owners

AFTER stairway. Added oak treads and painted risers, proper handrails including a continuous one on the right, per today's codes, and used a substantial 3/4" wrought iron baluster to give a lighter look. Stair is opposite the new improved skylight, so it gets ample natural light during the day.

New view; no longer facing a wall while at the sink, but interacting with guests and seeing outside gives the owners a greater sense of well being. The stainless square on the counter (1 of 3) is a pop up electric plug with USB
