Brookline
This older Victorian home sits at on a uniquely shaped corner lot. As a result the existing house had a confusing array of four entrances, none of which served as a main, user-friendly front entry. The client hired us to:
- Create a porch and front entry that leads into the daily living spaces.
- Make the new front entrance appear as if it was original to the house.
Together with the architect and homeowner we decided the best location for the new entry was off the driveway in an area that opens into the main hall and leads directly to the kitchen and living areas. This more formal entry is now a focal point of the exterior of the house and also provides the modern convenience of easily entering the daily living spaces.
This new entry now acts as a focal point upon arriving at the house. The homeowners couldn’t be happier with the appearance and functionality of the new addition and guests will never know the porch entry was just added to the house in the spring of 2009!
This renovation was featured in the January/February 2010 issue of New England Home.
