Caribou 6

Caribou 6 is a 2,100 sf ski-in, ski-out condo nestled at the base of Aspen Mountain. R+B transformed the existing design into a chic, contemporary space with warm, natural finishes. The “wood box” theme is achieved on all three floors with wire-brushed hemlock fir. Other unique wall textures include stone veneer and hair-on-hide wall tiles. The furnishings are a creative mix of custom and off-the-shelf pieces allowing for a high-end aesthetic with budget in mind.

The condo is anchored with a wire brushed hemlock fir “wood box”. The finish is carried through all three floors.

The existing walls around the Kitchen were removed to provide a seamless transition between spaces, creating an inviting atmosphere for social gatherings. The addition of a large Kitchen window and soft LED lighting exemplifies the contrast of the light zodiac stone and the rich, oak cabinetry.

Two custom sectional sofas upholstered in Holland and Sherry wools anchor the Living Room. A George Kovacs arc floor lamp and a Room and Board hair-on-hide ottoman bring texture and vibrancy to the space.

A Bocci chandelier floats above a Calligaris dining table featuring an intimate view of Lift One at the base of Aspen Mountain.

The newly designed fireplace is clad in cut Colorado buff stone juxtaposed against a modern hearth. In the stairwell hangs a mixed-media diptych of winter pines from the Royal Aspen Gallery.

Rowland+Broughton used magnetic cowhide wall tiles combined with a simple wood vanity top and a solid bonze Ann Sacks sink to create a modern rustic Powder Room.

The fireplace stone wall continues down to the second floor landing, as the newly designed open-riser staircase unites all three levels with warm, contemporary lines.

The original Master Bathroom plumbing fixtures were salvaged and incorporated into a newly built vanity and tub deck surrounded in textural Island Stone cladding. The accessories were provided by Chequers of Aspen.

The wire brushed wood box conceals the Office with industrial barn door hardware. The Office desk top is a glowing 3-form slab providing ambient lighting to the space.

The Master Bedroom combines simplicity and elegance with the wire brushed wood wall behind a custom upholstered bed draped in Matteo sheets and Restoration Hardware cashmere. The silk rug is handmade by Mark Nelson designs.
