Re-invention of a kitchen/family room space. The homeowners love to cook and entertain. The previous kitchen was less than half the size of the new space; with an under utilized breakfast table taking up a quarter of the total space. Storage and a very large work surface for sewing projects were needs of the homeowners. If we could keep him out of the way on his hunt for beverages while she busily prepared meals, she would be ecstatic. The result is a 12 foot island separating the kitchen from the family room, and a wet bar at the far right end of the kitchen work area. We made the spaces blend together so the wert bar sink could function as a secondary prep space for multiple cooks in the kitchen. The natural walnut island gives warmth and interest to the kitchen while blending into the fireplace and entertainment center of the family room area. Many gourmet meals and artisan baked goods are made in this kitchen, as well as costumes for high school and church productions.
