Clean slate.
Varrigated Boxwoods are one of my favorite shade plants. We did this particular install early April when the only annuals avilavlable were Pansys which continue flowering right through May and even June if they are planted in a shady area where the weather remains cool. The azeleas always make a instant show, however their bloom period is not long. Bleeding heart and vinca another great combination for the shade. In most cases we either add peatmoss or good soil the the grows and thrives rather than decline.
