Condo Makeover à la David Hicks
Our clients, a couple of young professionals, told us they bought this penthouse condo in Kits because of its good bones: 9ft ceilings, fireplace, skylight, large west-facing windows and hardwood floors. Upon moving in, they decided to hold off on any major remodelling projects. Instead, they hired us to transform their new place into a home they've always wanted with our creative painting solutions. Based on the initial consultation, Parisian chic & eclectic classicism was selected as the main theme of the project. Painted panels & wainscotting that we painted on the bedroom walls and doors were inspired by the look of the flagship Dior boutique in Paris. We updated all trim with true white and painted all ceilings using light grey. This accentuated the white crow nicely throughout the unit. The foyer was adorned in three zebra panels painted using a custom stencil we created specifically for this project. The entrance door wall was framed with a black border inspired by the design of the Chanel perfume bottles. We framed the gallery wall with a painted border to designate that space for wall decor and painted yellow stripes in the living room to create a focal point and a distinct zone within the space. Kitchen cabinets were painted grey to match the rest of the space and coordinate with the grey & white painted panels & wainscotting in the dining area. Panels were also painted on the fireplace. The homeowners love nature and wanted us to use it as inspiration for the wall design in the den/office. We created an original graphic mural representing the green mountain slopes under a clear blue sky and a bright orange sun - a familiar view the clients can see from their windows.
We also helped the clients decorate their place. We selected a navy velvet tufted-seat midcentury modern sofa for the living room, grey tufted headboard for the bedroom and a midcentury modern white table with wood legs for the den/office.
The clients were pleased with the result of our work: they got the look they wanted without breaking the bank. We had fun working on this project. Creating custom decorating solutions using paint is our passion and we love helping people personalize their homes like no other painting/decorating company can.
