The Client wanted a new backyard terrace with some shade and a water feature. She is sun-sensitive, and the pergola was to be the centrepiece. She asked for a unique and contemporary design rather than the conventional four post pergola. The end result is a cantilevered pergola supported on two 8x8 Douglas Fir posts, angled to the sun for maximum shade effect, with a dense cedar canopy. Woodwork was completed by Black Line Design Build, hardscape and plantings by Genus Loci. The posts frame an Aquascape basalt column water feature.
