Deck and Landscape Design Reno

The property was draining towards the house and with this year’s excessive rainfall the water had created channels and was starting to wash up against the foundation of the house. The existing crushed concrete driveway kept washing out and when it was dry, it was extremely dusty. The existing vegetation while lush and colorful was hiding the house and the existing Sago Palms posed a danger to the family dog. We decided to install a paver brick drive way and instead of going with an underground conveyance system we installed a dry creek that moves the water where we wanted it to go without endangering the house. The many turns in the creek slow the water down so that the wash out force is reduced. This way you have an esthetically pleasing yet functional part of the yard. As this picture I took during the construction shows, the system really works. Once the pavers were installed the water won’t be quite so muddy. We re-designed the walkway to the existing arbor on the hill. The turns in the deck allow for a slow perusal of the landscape and the small handrails provide support only where it’s needed. The plant material is mostly native plants that are able to be dry during dry season but can stand wet feet during rainy season.
