For the third home we’ve designed together, our long-time clients invited LiLu Interiors to reimagine their Scottsdale residence as a sophisticated, light-filled retreat that celebrates the beauty of the surrounding desert. They wanted a space that felt sleek and modern, yet warm and welcoming—a place to entertain friends, relax in comfort, and fully embrace Arizona’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

The remodel began by opening the home to its stunning setting. Expansive sliding glass doors now frame panoramic mountain views and connect the living spaces to generous outdoor terraces. Inside, the kitchen anchors the open-plan design with integrated cabinetry, bold stone surfaces, and a streamlined island that balances visual drama with everyday functionality. In the adjacent living area, a textured fireplace wall adds depth and dimension while maintaining the serene, neutral palette.

Beyond the interiors, the outdoor spaces were designed for both beauty and connection. A curved infinity-edge pool mirrors the desert horizon, while a glowing fire feature and multiple seating areas invite conversation under the Arizona sky.

Blending modern sophistication with the warmth of a long-standing client relationship, Desert Modern Retreat is not just a remodel—it’s the latest chapter in a shared design journey, shaped by trust, vision, and an enduring love of beautiful living.

Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. They serve the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, including Wayzata, Edina, and Rochester, and they travel to the far-flung destinations where their upscale clientele owns second homes.
