The Dune Road Modular House is was built to as a Hamptons getaway in the for a couple from Westchester, NY. It was designed to be shared by friends and family with ample bedrooms, bathrooms and parking. The site is in a hurricane flood zone which required the home to be elevated above potential flood waters, with the ability to withstand 120 MPH winds. Eleven factory built modules with steel reinforcing and triple glazed windows, were stacked and bolted together on a steel and concrete platform. The interiors are kept simple and minimal, to accentuate the view out towards Moriches Bay and the summer sunsets. The home was built to be resilient, sustainable and energy efficient. It's insulation, glazing and HVAC system will allow the family to, one day, comfortably move into this house year round. The bay, when frozen, is a pretty amazing sight as well.
