Our clients, a food writer and an academic, were looking to undertake a kitchen renovation and re-think the existing ground floor circulation of their 1950s Modernist residence on the East Side of Providence. We proposed to re-align the kitchen to place its functions at the heart of the house. A single gesture improves the flow towards the back patio and provides more storage. Custom walnut cladding wraps the pantry storage and three faces of the kitchen island, turning volumes into a study in surfaces.
