Energy Efficient in Los Altos

From the insulation methods to the appliances, this house was designed with energy efficiency in mind. A combination of Tesla roof tiles and conventional solar panels produce much of the energy for this all-electric home. The entire skin is wrapped with 1-1/2" insulating zip panels. Where possible, 24" stud spacing is used to minimize lumber use and add insulation. High efficiency heating and cooling systems incorporate heat recovery ventilation. Homeowners and the entire team insisted in thoughtful design and construction to prove that energy efficiency can be beautiful. Photography by Agnieszka Jakubowicz.
