This was a fun project that was in the making for a few years. The back yard was cleared in 2016 to create a more expansive lawn area. We encountered several large boulders (New England Potatoes) which we arranged on site for design purposes and for the hardscape project in Spring 2017.
In 2017 we aimed at creating an expansive hardscape space and gardens. We brought in 1,800 sq. ft. of natural cleft bluestone. The bluestone pattern is a custom design, as well, and it is dominated with large pattern stock. It is one of our trademarks to use large pattern stock up to 3' x 3'. The walls and fire-pit were capped with 3" bluestone with a rock face edge. We fabricate our caps and avoid small segmented pieces. The wood deck was shortened and revamped with composite decking. The deck's steps were purposely made to be 18" wide steps and have 6" risers, making for a gentle transition from the house to the patio space. A 6-person hot tub and irregular stone piers were installed for the hammock, along with extensive plantings. Landscape lighting was strategically placed in the wall and landscape and made for an ideal nighttime entertainment space.
