Family Room Addition

This family room addition was a long overdue improvement to this ranch home originally built in 1955. The new room replaced what is commonly referred to as an Arizona room. That's a nice name for a patio cover that has been illegally enclosed to create additional living space with a low ceiling and a floor that slopes away from the original home.

The new room exceeds four hundred square feet and has a ceiling that is a foot higher than the original home. The rooms sixteen-foot wide glass sliding door offers an inviting invitation to the new outdoor room just beyond it. The door features motorized drapes that control privacy and sun exposure. The walls and ceiling are all foam insulated to offer maximum energy savings. The floor has 24-inch square porcelain slate tiles. The cabinetry is all by Mid Continent.

The outdoor room features shiplap accents, LED recessed lighting, ceiling fans, and Sunbrella curtains to block the morning sun while having morning coffee outdoors, and a travertine paver floor.
