Family room addition

Addition creates mudroom, powder room and family room

The countertops help tie in the yellow wall color, white cabinets and hard wood floor together without being overpowering. The island can serve as extra preparation space or a place for kids to eat and do homework.
Island and peninsula
The family area is also extended off of the dining and kitchen area. By having the kitchen open, it is continuing the feel of a large, open house. It also allows for easier movement between the rooms.

We added a mudroom to help serve as an area for the house pet and a place to hang book bags, pocketbooks, wet hats and coats, and to place muddy or wet shoes without having to carry them throughout the house.
Mudroom
Having a small office that is separated from the main living area is a great idea for those that work from home, have children who need to do homework or just a place to organize and handle bills.
Kitchen desk
Having a small countertop underneath your microwave is a great idea so you can easily take hot items out of the microwave, and have a place to set it down before moving it to another location or to just cool off.
Microwave and drop zone
A half bath was added with tile that combines the wall and cabinet colors together. The sconces add the perfect touch and help brighten the half bath.
Formal Powder room
The dining area extends off of the open kitchen, keeping the same color scheme. Natural lighting from the windows along with the overhead light helps provide a more relaxing and traditional look to the dining area. The white cabinet also helps add to the “country chic” ambiance.
Breakfast area
The light colors, natural lighting and recessed lighting also give the kitchen a more open appearance, as well as a warm and inviting ambiance.
Island
Including colored or patterned tiles as backsplash is a great way to add extra color and character to your kitchen.
