This project involved a full refurbishment of the TV room in a beachside home located right on the water in Mt Maunganui. Inspired by the ever-changing colours of the ocean just outside, the palette was carefully developed through both the artwork and the interior finishes, layering soft neutrals with deep teal and blue tones. Colours incorporated in the artwork are echoed throughout the room in the rug, cushions, and styling, creating a strong visual connection and a sense of cohesion. The result is a calm, inviting, and refined space that feels relaxed while remaining deeply connected to its coastal surroundings.

Working with local artist Tony Barnett of Copper Poppa, custom metalwork was designed specifically for the room, responding to light, movement, and the existing structure. The organic copper forms introduce texture, warmth, and visual rhythm, turning otherwise overlooked elements into a focal point. As the light changes throughout the day, the artwork casts shifting shadows and reflections, bringing the space to life.
