A young family came to us with an early-2000s colonial and a wish list that was equal parts practical and personal: a garage with workshop space for skis and bikes, a proper mudroom, room for guests, and spaces that carried the warmth of family memories forward into something new.

The addition flanks the original home on both sides: a three-car garage with workshop and guest suite above on one end, and the "Fantastic Room" on the other—a vaulted gathering space anchored by a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, hemlock beams milled to read like reclaimed barn wood, and sliding glass doors framing views to Camel's Hump.

Inside, the interiors blend modern updates with rustic moments: a bold red mudroom built-in, a barn board backdrop echoing a family barn the clients had hoped to reclaim, a vintage canoe converted into a pendant light, and wide-plank oak floors throughout. The home feels as though it has been in the family for decades. It just fits.
