Foxwood House Addition

This project in Nashville's Forest Hills included an exterior renovation for increased curb appeal and natural light, plus the addition of a screen porch.
We eliminated the short, high 1950s windows that dated the house and kept it too dark inside. In their place, we cut through brick to fashion new openings for tall triple windows, and built a bay window topped with copper at the dining room. These changes totally transformed the house both inside and out. (See before picture.)

The screen porch was tricked out with skirted beams that curve gracefully and square columns topped with capitals – details that mirror the front entry for an “always there” appearance. Other details: Exposed rafters, light-stained 2×6 tongue-and-groove ceiling boards and bug-blocking screens installed beneath the deck boards.
