The client retreats to this lower level space to work, read, and relax. Wanting to bring this space together in a cohesive way, I used his art collection as a spring board, developing my color scheme from there. Adding a wall of shelves is an important design element as it will display his collections and books. Starting with the pre-existing sofa and club chair, I oriented the space to accommodate a long, low entertainment center. To maintain easy access and mobility within the space, a round cocktail table is optimal. Sconces, floor lamps, and task lighting will be incorporated as well. Ultimately, we intend to remove the carpet and refinish the concrete floor topping it with ample rugs for a more layered, luxurious look and feel.
