Heiser Residence
Tucked away on the small, windy streets of Portland Heights, this 1928 home was transformed into a modern, light-filled box. With six different floor levels, the original structure was simplified and then streamlined with a new building envelope. The new floor plan was designed around a light-filled entry and central core stair while the existing interior spaces were opened up to views with generous glass walls. An upper level addition includes a new master bedroom block which hangs above the rear yard, creating sheltered play areas for the family of four young children. Interior finishes include simple white walls and ceilings, contrasting the original rusticated wood beam ceilings and floors.
