Her's Master Suite

The client, an old college classmate of Ty's, asked him to do a complete overall and redesign of her late 80's master bedroom suite which had become aesthetically and functionally dated. Because the master bedroom lacked any significant architectural details, a paneled wall lacquered in blue paint was devised to create a focal point and to serve as the space's headboard wall. A custom designed white painted four poster bed was juxtaposed with 50's style chests in dark walnut and flanked by a pair of matching Neo-classical gold leafed mirrors for a dazzling effect of opposites. The completed bedroom space is layered and multi-deminsional employing the mixture of different furniture genres and eras as to suggest the space might have been collected over a longer period of time.

The client asked that her new master bath have the feeling of a swanky boutique hotel bath but with the openness of a spa. The bathroom was gutted to the studs and reconfigured into a wide open space where the floor and walls were covered in Statuary marble. For warmth, dark walnut custom cabinetry was specified in an effort to counter balance the iciness created by the sea of white marble so that the space was brought into an aesthetic equilibrium.
