We developed this basement for a lovely family in the NW of Calgary. We were lucky to have been refereed to them by two separate past clients - we love referrals!!
This family built this home around 15 years ago. When they built the home there were was a cold space in the basement that they decided to turn into a walk in safe. They were able to purchase a commercial style safe door and have it built it into the house when it was originally built (no easy task!) The basement was left un-developed for 15 years. Now the family is growing and they needed some more family space we developed this beautiful, functional space with oodles of storage! We started with a blank space (and a safe door!) there is now a bedroom, bathroom, furnace room, safe room and large open living space. We used functional materials like Adura vinyl plank on the floor (so easy to maintain!) and neutral colors which the homeowners have accessories with bright objects.
We designed and built an over sized custom maple barn door on tracks which slides across the length of the basement wall to hide the safe door. This family wanted as much storage as possible so we built a huge maple built in with both cabinet doors to hide shelves and large drawers to maximize the storage possibilities. At the other end of the living room we built a TV/entertainment until with floor to ceiling built in maple cabinetry.
