Lands End

A remodeled tropical oasis in Marathon, FL with panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico. The owners wanted to bring the colors and creatures of the ocean into their design, hoping to pay homage to the beautiful ocean outside their windows.

Working with the architecture and interior design departments at D'Asign Source, the couple was able to work through the conceptional design phase with 3D drawings and establish an overall aesthetic for both the interior and exterior spaces of the house. Rooms were changed around, while adding space, porches and finishing touches. A new gourmet kitchen, beautiful entryway and saltwater pond were just the beginning. The former kitchen was transformed into a family room while leaving the living room as is. On the main floor, the powder bathroom was created, the master bedroom enlarged and the former porch for the master bedroom turned into a new master bath with double vanities, free standing bathtub and walk-in shower with rain heads. A dream closet, which had been promised when the property was purchased, came to fruition with a beautiful chandelier and plenty of space for shoes, handbags and clothing.

The stairway leading up to the upstairs loft, which serves as a his and hers office setting, was completely reworked. The stairs offer a gentle curve along a wall of curved fish. This is accentuated with a beautiful custom handrail of seagrass.

The sailfish bedroom was enlarged and given a deck facing the ocean. The garden bedroom overlooks the tropical plantings as designed by D'Asign Source's landscape architecture team.

On the back of the house a roof structure was added to create a covered patio that shelters the space overlooking the pool and spa. From there, the water flows over into a larger pool at ground level. For entertaining, the lower level is prime real estate for parties. It features an outdoor bar area with two large televisions, a wood burning oven, swim up bar and lounge area surrounded by the pool. And if that wasn't enough, a sand beach, fishing deck and fire pit area on the ocean was added.

The final touches came with the furniture and decor. Fabrics, durable to handle grandchildren and pets, were selected to cover seating as well as custom wood finishes to accentuate each piece. All of the layouts were designed to maximize both public and private spaces. This created flexibility for intimacy when it's just the 2 of them or easily expanded when the entire family joins them. Selected lamps, rugs and accessories added to the coastal theme of the house and completed the design aesthetic.
