Loop House
Located in Austin’s North Loop neighborhood, loop house was developed as a speculative home. The client, a local developer, wanted a fresh modern style that maximized square footage and offered a bold aesthetic to contribute to the burgeoning neighborhood. The design solution was inspired by the neighborhood namesake and consisted of an exercise in merging two forms –a dramatic loop over a box. As the design matured, material selections, function, and program would contribute without sacrificing the formal aesthetic.
An open floor plan on the ground floor harmoniously blends living dining and kitchen spaces. Well placed openings control light and views of the street. The full kitchen offers surprises like the "peek-a-boo" window discretely at counter level providing natural light and some fun to a space in which we all spend time. Circulation to the second floor found its place in the “loop” of the home, offering a dramatic vaulted ceiling and natural light from openings. Upstairs bedrooms all have well placed windows, providing natural light and air flow to the spaces. Proximity to a variety of amenities in Austin’s north loop area, make this infill home an ideal location for live, work, and play.
