Before this project was even started and we were in the planning stages of the project, we were thinking about raising the height of the ceiling. We had it as a protected line item in the proposal, and we were thrilled at the demolition stage to discover almost 1 foot of space in the main area of the kitchen. It’s common in condominiums that ceilings are framed down because it was easier at the time. In other instances, there’s a good reason why the ceiling has been dropped down, but you should check to see if you can gain some additional space. In this condo in Vaughan we raised approximately 3/4 of the ceiling up, and transformed the entire space.
