We had a lot of fun working with our client and close friend adding a third story and completely remodeling her old beach shack. A tricky postage stamp size property with non-conformities in the hillside El Porto area of Manhattan Beach added to the challenge.

We created a new central vertical stair spine wrapping a custom walnut wood clad stair the acts also as bookcase. We conceived a custom detailed exaggerated 'lap siding' cascading and embracing the facade and extending to become part of the interior decor. Fleetwood sliding pocket doors allow the interior to flow out to the new third floor deck with unobstructed and expansive views of the Pacific Ocean.

Various custom details abound, from the glossy white rainscreen facade to minimalist frameless glazing, accent the architecture and interior design throughout.
