McFarlin Boulevard Residence

This project was an amazing traditional existing home renovation project in the Park Cities, with a design concept of comfortable glamour. The project included the expansion and complete new addition of master bedroom and bath.

The master bedroom is a retreat in which both husband and wife can relax. My goal was to design a dramatic, warm room with wonderful neutral grays, accented by whites and an unexpected pop of color. The white provides a crisp feel to the otherwise dark room, and the fuchsia accents are a sophisticated surprise to finish the look. The modern feel is also accentuated by the beautiful round mirror and crystal lamps. The color palette unifies the space to create a serene refuge for this busy couple. The master bath illustrates a feeling of calm and serenity. The crisp white harmonizes with the warm tones of the mirrors and backsplash, and the room is accented by an exquisite shell chandelier.

The family room is designed to be an open, highly functional space for today’s family that is traditionally inspired, but with a modern style for my fashion-forward clients. The result is a handsome space that can entertain a small family gathering or a large group with ease. One of the main focuses of the design is the Walker Zanger ceramic tile over the fireplace. The modern feel is also highlighted by the beautiful custom-designed étagères used on either side of the fireplace.

The dining room uses traditional furniture designs, with a twist on color and sophistication. This is the least-used room in the house, so making white a priority in here was an easy choice. The result is a serene and elegant formal dining room.

The traditional-styled furniture in the living room is adorned with a sophisticated up-to-date neutral color scheme. The result is a relaxed and warm space for friends and family to gather.

One of the highlights of the kitchen is the Walker Zanger glass backsplash tile. The sharp color contrast of the white and blues gives the design a focal point and dramatic flair. The modern feel is also underscored by the beautiful glass chandeliers over the island. This kitchen is a great example of bringing an existing home to an entirely new level.

The entry was made dramatic by painting the existing wood floor a crisp and classic geometric pattern of octagons and squares in a high-gloss white and eggplant. The contrast of the dark eggplant color against the white background makes a simple pattern bold, and accentuates the traditional staircase, with its contrasting dark wood banister and treads, with white balusters and risers. A slim console in black and gold with modern art above grounds the space.
