mid-century modern / coastal courtyard addition

An addition and renovation to an existing midcentury modern home maintains the original spirit of the design and the surrounding community, while adding functional square footage to the family's living space at an existing open courtyard and enhancing the streetscape and access.

A suspended 2x cedar trellis utilizes the existing awning structure, attached by countersunk bolts to create a floating effect- an entry detail that defines main access and creates beautiful shadows on the light gray siding below.
