Modern Lake House

When referring to a lake home, the term can evoke many images for people across our Province – our modern lake home starts at a small horse power restricted lake (that’s how you know how small it is) less than 2 hours from Vancouver – few people have even heard of it.

Our clients purchased a challenging lot and were ready to build their dream home after years of renting – and had a definite vision in mind. Their modest home is not short on drama - sweeping back into the rocky cliffs above the lake. It required extensive geotechnical work including geohazard fencing and drilling.

Coming from an ICI background, our clients wanted a trimmed down metal siding, leading-edge look for their home. Their aesthetic included European styling and linear windows – along with custom Bocani stairs featuring a central metal stringer – resulting in a modern and refined aesthetic.

Timber detail in elevated, angled ceiling lines tie the space together and bring together the outside lake community and inside modernity. With a building area of less than 1,500 square feet including garage, our clients’ home is built for spacious living for a family of two plus a furry family member. While compact, it feels significant with dramatic angles and extensive hand finished details.
A modern lake house for a modern lake destination.
