The purpose of this remodel was to create the dream bathroom that our clients desired. The clients wanted to be, in their words, “Wowed” by the design. Among other requests, the husband had a unique request to incorporate opposing elements of fire and water into the design, while his wife’s main objective was to achieve a “Luxury Spa” like relaxing and warm overall atmosphere. To these ends, elements such as a fireplace, radiant heat, towel warmers, an under-mount effervescing bubble massage tub, and a cascading built-in fountain, and a myriad of natural earth inspired textures and tones were introduced. The bathtub platform and steps are cut from a single piece of onyx, stepped to allow the pattern to flow up over glass tile risers. And the ceiling “starry night” feature over the bathtub is made of 150 strands of twinkling fiber optic strands. Textures and finishes including mat porcelain tile, honed travertine, polished glass, and split face travertine have been juxtaposed to create contrast and interest.
