Old Greenwich House
This new, modern 3700 SF residence was built to meet FEMA standards on a tight suburban lot near Long Island Sound. The project was originally conceived by Labhaus as a shop fabricated structure shipped to the site. SLA continued the project by designing and developing a unique, custom- built residence filled with sophisticated details throughout. The owner's extensive travels to Asia are evident in the zen-like interior rooms. A tatami room with simple furnishings and open atmosphere includes tatami mats from Japan. Large window and door expanses provide rear views to a private yard and pool. Filtered light through custom wood screens provide more private views to the street front. Wood, stucco, concrete and limestone create a richly textured assemblage of materials on an otherwise traditional New England streetscape.
