This residence was a sustainable new construction project in the farmhouse/ beach style vernacular. The complete roof walls and floors were built in a factory and shipped to the site by crane. Located a few blocks from Long Island Sound, the house meets stringent FEMA standards but is also Energy Star Certified with a final HERS rating of 47. The house was designed as a very simple footprint and shape to make it easier to fabricate off-site in the New Hampshire factory, by Bensonwood Homes. It was then shipped to the site , assembled and all finish work completed by a local contractor. The end result is a very livable, cozy and extremely energy efficient house for a family of 4.
