Modern home designed by Dorrington Atcheson Architects, Palm Beach - Waiheke, Johanna-May & Darren Manks, family of three.
THE BRIEF:
Create a spectacular holiday home full of colour and personality, a retreat from there busy city lifes.
WHAT WE DID:
This magnificent home sits perched above Palm Beach in the stunning community of Waiheke Island. With its superb location and sea views, it’s designed to create a retreat from the city for the owners. Erina Emery was asked to create a unique home full of colour - a dream brief.
We custom made many pieces for the home to ensure we showcased the client’s individuality. In the master bedroom, a stunning custom bed with floating oak shelves now sits below a huge Helen Bankers floral wall feature, creating a room full of energy and personality. Headboards were made for all bedrooms, with different designs and fabrics used to create a theme for each space. We catered to the mid-summer sun by installing double-tracked window treatments in all spaces, allowing for shade and privacy in summer while giving each space a cosy vibe in winter.
The dining space has a rustic vibe linked to a stunning Waiheke stone-exposed fireplace, which runs through the downstairs bedrooms. We made sure this beautiful piece of nature worked with the interiors, as well as the colour schemes and furnishings. The powder room is a showcase in colour - wow factor brought to life with its stunning green walls and feature pineapple light.
The attached guest wing featured built-in seating with a rich orange velvet squabbing to coincide with the lux feel of the space. A custom bed and marble-look feature wall ensures that every visiting guest feels like they’re in paradise.
This project showcases the joy of being brave and creative, which we loved.
